Easter Sunrise Service. Join us this Sunday at the Long Beach harbor for our annual community sunrise service. Celebrate the resurrection with your extended Christian community. We begin at 6:30 am and will conclude by 7:00 am. A love offering for the Long Beach Food Pantry will be received.
Prayerfully consider your gift to North American Missions. The Annie Armstrong offering is our way of giving financial support to almost 5,200 missionaries serving in the United States and Canada. Your gifts go directly to the work and none of it is used for administrative purposes. As we give, so goes the work of reaching people in our nation for Christ. Let’s do our part to fulfill the great commission obediently and willingly. Sharing Jesus in our Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria is priority one.
Deacon Nominations. Who will you nominate for deacon ministry in our church? We need every member to participate in the selection process by nominating those men who have demonstrated a servant’s heart and spirit. Your participation is the key to maintaining a strong, effective deacon ministry. Please take five minutes to complete a nomination form for each man that you would like to be included in the deacon ministry.
Twelve Stones of Remembrance. Have you submitted your word(s) that describes how God has been at work in our journey to bring us to where we are today at First Baptist? What do you want future generations to remember about us and the journey our faith has taken through the 99 year history of FBC, Long Beach? Help me identify 12 words that best communicate who we are and how we have become who we are today. I look forward to receiving your words.

See You Resurrection Sunday!

In my Bible Reading this past week, I read a verse that really hit me hard.  It was Judges 2:10 – 11a:  “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what He had done for Israel.  Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord . . “.  It really hit home to me the importance of us as adults passing on our faith to our younger generation and telling them what the Lord has done in our lives.  In this day of prevalent evil and disregard of Christian ways, it is even more crucial that we tell our children and grandchildren about the Lord, His will, His ways, and His promises.  This is done in two ways:  One is in the home.  We need to be teaching the Word as we go about our daily lives.  Our children need to see us live out our Christian lives.  We need to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.  Second, we need to be teaching it in our church with the preschoolers through youth.  We need people that are willing to step up to the plate and say, “Here am I, Lord, send me.”
I am a firm believer that God has placed in our body of believers (the church) all that we need to do the ministry at this time.  That means that He is speaking to all of us to be on mission with Him.  As you have heard LaRue and I say, we have many areas of ministry that need staffing now and in the future.  Please pray for where God wants you to work.
Two areas that are in an immediate need are in the Preschool Department with the one year olds and in the Children’s Department. Please contact me if you feel that God is calling you to serve in one of these areas.
See you on Sunday as we celebrate the Risen Lord.  Happy Easter.

Text Box:    I really hope you all have enjoyed your spring break this week. I will have my spring break the second week in April. I really can’t wait.
Remember, there is a correction to Youth News. We will not be having a work day Saturday. We will have to reschedule it for April. I know that the 12th is bad because of the ACT test and Prom so we’ll pick maybe the next weekend, sorry for all the confusion.
Well, I really missed “Nite Life” last night, it sure has been fun. We will continue our regular schedule next Wednesday at 6:00 at the annex. Our study this month has been on absolute truth. All youth are welcome to come. Why not come next Wednesday and bring a friend?
We will continue cross sales on Sunday, so if you can’t remember if you were on the list to work see me before service and I can set you up. By the way, special thanks go out to all who have supported our efforts to raise money for the youth campaign. Thank you Mr. Dave Bethea for all that you have done, I know that you have sacrificed a lot of time and I really appreciate it. Thank you also to all of you that have bought one of the crosses, the youth thank you.
Youth, don’t forget about our phone call outreach. Keep up the good work; I believe I have seen an increase in our attendance. We will start visiting soon.
Have a great weekend and Happy Resurrection Day.
Scott
