Text Box: Hey Youth,
What a great Super Bowl party! You guys did a really good job of inviting a friend. If your team didn’t win, at least you got really stuffed. Thanks to Mr. Jerry for the hot wings-they were awesome. Thanks also to Mr. Jimmy for the chicken nuggets and all the adults there as well. I hope we can also remember what “The Coach” said during our halftime devotional, “our success comes from glorifying the Lord, not through wins and losses”.
Students, remember that we will leave the annex at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon to go to Mobile for Winter Jam. The cost to get in is $10 and you will also need some spending money for food.
Sunday was the second week of our outreach campaign. We will continue the postcards for probably two more weeks then we will start a phone call campaign. Don’t worry, each student will only probably call one or two students. Remember, they are our youth, this is our youth group. Keep up the good work.
Our next spire workday will be February the 16th at the Mogler’s. We will be painting them so wear some old clothes.
Guys, youth choir will start up again this Sunday and Mr. John needs those deep voices. Join the youth choir Sunday at 5:00.
I would like to thank Mr. Bethea for his gracious donation of the pool table. It will be a great addition to our youth room. If anyone knows of a place to store it until then, give me a call. The legs come off so it only needs a wall to lean against.
   Have a great weekend.

Text Box: Historical Society Replaces Marker
The historical marker, erected during First Baptist Church’s 90th anniversary in 1999 and destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, has been replaced.
The historical marker was restored on property adjacent to Jeff Davis Avenue and Fifth Street through the cooperative work of the Long Beach Historical Society, the City of Long Beach and Mayor Billy Skellie, and our Church Archivist.
The wording on the new marker was up-dated to indicate the original church site, destruction caused by the hurricane, and the relocation of the church campus to 300 North Cleveland Avenue.

Text Box: Brenda’s Notes...
I have been in the new building a lot the past several days looking at different things and measuring for furniture and such.  Every time I go into the building I get a little more excited.  (If that is possible)  I think about the children and youth and adults that will be coming to the church.  I think about how many of them will come to know Jesus there.  I also begin to think about the different teachers we will need for the preschool and children and youth areas and also the new adult classes that we will need to start.  I am praying now for God to call up teachers for these areas.  Do you realize that in just 5 months we will be in our new building?  We have a lot to get ready!   Please join me in prayer that God will give us the wisdom to know what we do need to have ready.  Pray for the teachers, greeters, ushers, welcome center people, greeters in the preschool and children areas, resource room workers in the preschool and children’s areas, librarian, and the list goes on.  I had to stop so that I would not overwhelm you or me.  God has put before us a tremendous opportunity to serve Him and our community.  Pray about where He wants you to plug in.  Being just a pew sitter is not an option.  God has a ministry for us all.  If what He is calling you to do is not in the list above, don’t worry.  Just come and tell me and we will work on it together.  I would love to hear from each of you about where you want to serve.  That is our call from God.  Do you hear Him today?  See you on Sunday as we worship, attend Bible Study, and go out to serve.

Text Box: ®Funny how a $100 bill looks so big when you take it to church, but so small when you take it to the mall.
®Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour, but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.
®Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are, but how short they are when watching a movie.
®Funny how we can’t think of anything to say when we pray, but don’t have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.
®Funny how we believe what the newspaper says, but question what the Bible says.
®Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.
It’s not so funny, is it?  And that’s why we must acknowledge and live by God’s command - He comes first - always - everywhere.
