Text Box: Hey Youth,
Wow, what an awesome time we had last Friday at the Sea Wolves game! It was a lot of excitement. I hope everyone had a great time. Remember our next big event will be the Super Bowl party at my house. There is no need to bring anything but a friend. Hope to see you there. It will surely be a blast. Hey, maybe you will win the “super fan” contest. Dress up as a super fan and you could win a prize.
Students, we will have a work party at the Mogler’s Saturday at 9:00 am to finish the spires. Wear old clothes and shoes and be prepared to get a little dirty. This fundraiser will really help our “His Church Rising” goal and it will make a nice addition to someone’s collection of church memorabilia. I’ll see you Saturday.
Our study on “Purity” seems to really be moving into high gear. I really hope you have gained some insight into what it is God’s word is telling us. There are so many issues you face on a daily basis, let’s make sure we are making decisions based on His word. Join the youth group Wednesday’s at 6:00 for “Nite Life”.
Guys, it looks as if at least one deeper voice has joined the youth choir, but we still need some more. Please consider joining the youth choir; you will absolutely love it and your future girlfriends will, too. Ha-Ha! You guys have a great weekend.

Text Box: Brenda’s Notes . . .
As I mentioned last week in my article, we are going to be focusing on outreach and being ready for those that God sends our way.  That does not mean that we are to sit around and wait for God to do it.  We have our part in this as well.  We are to be out in the world talking about our relationship with the Lord and what he means in our lives.  We are to be inviting them to come to church and be a part of a fellowship of believers.  It is very easy to say to someone – “Where do you attend church?”  If they say that they do not attend anywhere, then invite them to come with you.  You do not have to get into a deep discussion, but just tell them what the Lord has done for you recently.
The outreach ministry is going to be called “The Shepherd’s Staff Ministry”.  This calls to mind the way that the Lord deals with us, just as the shepherd’s staff is used to bring the strayed sheep back into the fold.  That is how we are to be - the staff that lovingly brings people to Jesus.  Watch for different ways that this will be done in the days and months ahead.  But for now, please be the mouth and hands and feet in our community reaching out for Christ and our church.

Text Box: Heart to Heart
Beginning this Sunday and continuing through Tuesday evening, spend quality time studying the Book of Romans.  The Book of Romans, tagged as “the gospel according to Paul”, is the focus of our Winter Bible Study.
Dr. Jim Futral will lead our Winter Bible Study.  Dr. Futral, son of the late Rev. Guy Futral and Mary Sue Futral, was raised in a pastor’s family.  He and his wife, the former Shirley Fay Moore of Bessemer, AL, have been blessed with 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  A graduate of Clarke College (1964), Blue Mountain College (1967), and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1977 and D.Min., 1980), Dr. Futral is well equipped to lead our studies in the Book of Romans.  He served as pastor of Southern Baptist churches for 35 years, including Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport.  Most recently Dr. Futral served 13 years as pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.  Since 1998, Dr. Futral has served as the Executive Director-Treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.

Our Schedule for studies in the Book of Romans:

Please note that Sunday night through Tuesday night we gather at North Long Beach Baptist Church for our studies.  After the Monday and Tuesday morning studies, lunch will be served for a $3.00 donation.  Each session will have a different focus so plan now to attend all six studies with Dr. Jim Futral.
See You Sunday!
